True North Classical Academy is seeking a mission-driven and experienced Physical Education Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025–2026 school year. Role Summary

The Middle/High School Physical Education Teacher plays a vital role in cultivating physical excellence, discipline, and sportsmanship in students through structured physical education classes and athletic activities. Grounded in the classical ideal of educating the whole person—mind, body, and soul—this teacher helps students develop healthy habits, strong character, and respect for others through physical training and competition. The ideal candidate brings energy, order, and a commitment to classical virtues to the gym, field, and classroom.


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead daily physical education classes for students in grades 6–12 that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Develop and implement a well-rounded PE curriculum aligned with classical values, emphasizing discipline, perseverance, and respect.
  • Teach the rules, techniques, and strategies of various individual and team sports.
  • Monitor and assess student participation, progress, and skill development in physical activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty and school leaders to support the holistic development of students, including character and leadership formation.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive environment in all athletic and PE spaces.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with families regarding student progress and expectations.
  • Support school-wide events, field days, athletics, and extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Uphold and model the mission, values, and standards of the school community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 


 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field (required).
  • Experience teaching PE or coaching athletics at the middle or high school level.
  • A strong understanding of physical development and age-appropriate fitness instruction.
  • Excellent classroom and behavior management skills.
  • Commitment to the classical philosophy of education and the formation of virtue through physical discipline.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, mission-driven mindset.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Competitive Compensation: Starting salary for new teachers begins at $52,470, with adjustments based on experience and expertise. Additional compensation includes:

  • Master’s supplement: $3,410

  • Doctorate supplement: $7,920
