The Academic Counselor serves students in grades 7–12, offering guidance in academic planning, study skills, and personal development. The primary focus is academic success within the classroom, while also providing occasional support in college and career readiness. The role requires a proactive, hands-on approach and a deep understanding of both student development and academic accountability.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized academic counseling, including course selection, scheduling, and graduation planning
- Evaluate student transcripts and academic records to ensure progress and eligibility
- Monitor student performance and partner with teachers, administrators, and families to implement support plans
- Guide students in developing time management, study skills, and personal responsibility
- Organize and lead workshops on academic success, personal development, and planning
- Conduct parent meetings to discuss student progress, academic needs, and action plans
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and school-based policies
- Offer guidance on standardized testing and post-secondary pathways as needed
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in academic teaching or counseling
- Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and support staff
- Proficient in evaluating transcripts and academic records
- Experience planning and facilitating meetings involving students, parents, and cross-functional teams
- Commitment to classical education and a deep belief in the vocation of teaching and guiding students
- Willingness to go above and beyond to support the success and formation of every student
